After my daughter got the call from her doctor last night relating she was not
infected we put on a feast!
Huge baked potatoes w/sour cream, butter, shredded cheese, bacon bits, deviled
eggs, and spicy Italian brats. 'Course mine required lotsa sliced jalapenos too

Good to hear Kim.

Thanks Gak, it definitely was welcomed news

YUM.
That's good new for the both of you but mate, you need to assume you do have it
and keep up the isolation/quarantine.
Negative swab only means no active RNA in the test but it could still be there,
just inactive.
That's great news for you but not so great for anyone you breathe on.
Of course that doesn't allow for the Jalapeño matrix, which could have mutated
your genes over the years and made you and your kin immune to viruses.
But that's just a theory I am working on. A delicious, tasty theory.

I hear ya 'berto and yeah this whole thing has certainly had me rethink my
position on the whole viral contamination thing.
From here on I'm gloving and wearing a mask if I'm out in public. Luckily I have
a small stash of both PPE items since they're currently hard to get.
On the peppers front I'm a firm believer they have amazing powers over
infection. I rarely ever get sick and contribute a lot of my hearty immune
system to the massive amounts of capsacin I ingest. Still doin my part to keep
our pepper growers in business

I'm right there helping too. Fighting the good fight to keep chilli growers in
business.
Good news that things seem OK at least mrk.

Thanks pulse, it was a huge relief to find out she was clear!
In my Corona leisure time I've started a Texican Cookbook with the idea being to
revolve the whole thing around the concept of cooking w/peppers. Got any recipes
you'd care to share??

glad to hear you and yours are okay, Kim..and I think you may be correct about
the peppers boosting your immune system...I'm more of a habanero man myself as I
don't really like the flavor of the jalapenos..
Mrkim Report This Comment Date: April 06, 2020 11:54PM
Thanks for the kind thoughts PJ :>
My favorite peppers are actually serranos, love their flavor.
I like habaneros but there's just not much to 'em since the meat's so thin.
Still haddn had a fresh ghost chile or a reaper and I sure would like to find
some and give 'em a whirl
pulse, did you ever grow any more of those ghost chiles?

I actually really like the taste of jalapenos. There was a cafe near where I
used to live, did an excellent fried chicken+slaw burger, add fresh jalapenos.
Was one of my favourite things in the area.
I haven't grown any more ghost chillis. That plant survived another ~2 years,
never grew another chilli. But my god they were hot. Just .. insanely hot to
bite directly. That was dumb.
A friend of my wife makes jars of home made chilli sauce which I absolutely
love. I'm nearly out of it now, need to get some more. Otherwise I mostly just
use sauces these days; I like this guy's stuff - this pack would probably suit
you Kim

Don't get me wrong pulse I do love jalapenos but serranos just have a subtle
difference I really enjoy.
Too bad your plant waddn more productive but at least you got to get something
off it. My poor plants got wiped out before they were even 3" tall ...
sniff, sniff
Having tried lotsa sauces I tend to enjoy the home made ones the best. Most
commercial sauces I've tried are just ass burnin hot without a lotta taste. The
worst are the ones that have a very vinagary taste

That's why I like those ones in the link; it is home made, the dude just sells
them at markets and online. A few hundred bottles a year, a sideline he's turned
into a business.
Now you've got me thinking about chilli again. It's nearly dinner time...

Opened up a bottle of the smokey burn sauce tonight I had in the pantry. Damn
tasty. I've been missing spicy food at my in laws place.
