It's actually not quite true.. if you look at the image numbers we're over
55,000 images uploaded, so we should've broken 40,000 a long time ago.
With the site splits (plus613 to porn613 etc) and a number of deleted images
etc, we're only now OFFICIALLY at 40,000 images online, right now.
Yay plus613!

Not your best work, the image view posts were much more exciting!

Yeah I know, but they're almost impossible to get because they come so fast as
you approach the magic numbers.
I'll try and snap the 50,000,000 but .. yeah I doubt it'll happen.
It's also unfortunate that we lost a massive amount of statistics a couple of
years ago.. we had images with 100,000 views, and I'm pretty sure the site
itself was approaching 100 million view mark (though that might be combined). A
great example is John Travolta's House image, which definitely was over 100,000
views and is now just 3,000 (with 1,000 votes and 343 comments, you KNOW that
viewer number is wrong).
It's a shame, I have no idea how we lost the numbers.. but yeah we did.
It also shows that our hits have dropped off significantly, because we used to
do 100,000+ image views a day and now it's about 250,000 a month. Although that
was probably also before the porn613 split but even that's only 1.3 million a
month.. so the 2 sites combined are 1.55 million image views a month, down from
roughly 3 million 18 months to 2 years ago. This also means our costs are higher
than they need be, as we have the infrastructure to support a LOT more hits than
we're doing, but it's basically too hard to go back. We could probably take
10,000,000 a month without batting an eyelid.
The plus613.com to plus613.net switch also hurt us significantly, losing a
number of high ranks and links in google, and being removed from the DMOZ.org
search engine at the same time (which we now can't get back into). I now own the
plus613.com domain so we're back up and running on it, but that's the thing that
caused the most damage to the site.
Oh well. I'll stop being nostalgic for the 'good old days' shall I?

You know what else is amazing?
Last month we made more money off 600 hits to [
xn4.org] (a news aggregator) than we did off 180,000 hits to
plus613!
Maybe I should focus more on growing that site instead, cost of hosting is a
shitload cheaper...
