I propose we make a new smiley in honor of his passing by altering the one with the pepsi can so it shows Jakko's hair catching on fire next to the pepsi can.

(In reference to when his hair caught on fire while on stage filming a Pepsi commercial for anyone who doesn't remember that.)

I'd do it myself but my paint shop skills are sorely lacking.

Personally I don't believe he ever was a pedo though I know it's convenient to believe so for someone who was highly misunderstood.

I think he was unfortunately forced to grow up extremely fast... by age 8 he was already on tour singing professionally and in the studio almost every day. He was severely physically and mentally abused by his father his entire youth, however not sexually. (which is what typically inspires pedophilia) I really think he's the most extremely tragic case of showbiz fucking up a kid and when you couple that with a genius personality the end result is pretty unpredictable.

By the time he gained independence through sheer fame and wealth he was already permanently mentally damaged. He viewed himself as a child since he had never be allowed to be one and as a result associated best with children. To that end he built a fantasy land private estate that allowed him to relive his missed childhood with other kids who were troubled. When he shared a bed with kids to him I'm positive it was a sleep-over style event as I honestly don't believe the guy had a sexual bone in his body. I don't think he was progressed to that level in most ways.

Add in a couple of opportunistic parents who see the chance to get rich quick off some accusations, societies expectations of what is normal, and a guy who views himself as just another kid... and you have one big mess.

Was it wrong to share a bed with kids? To the rest of "adults" in society, of course. That's because it's immediately viewed in a sexual aspect. We can't conceive of someone who just doesn't view it that way, primarily due to our own social training. Perhaps all of us are more fucked up for immediately thinking of sex when we picture a child and adult in a bed.

I believe the story goes after 20 million the boy would not testify that he could identify markings on the accused in the genital region that could only be identified by someone having had intimate contact...

IMHO there's a lot of weight to what Onyma just said. Take an immense talent with a messed up childhood and then a further messing by fame and fortune and you don't necessarily get a monster, just a majorly screwed up personality. I've always adored kids in a normal way but I've found over the last few years that I have to be very careful around them lest someone get the wrong idea. And once the kids become aware that there are people out there who will hurt them they become suspicious (as, sadly, they should be) and in extreme cases realize they can accuse someone who has done nothing just to make that person's life a hell for whatever reason. Awareness is a good thing but the consequences of it make for a very sad world. We have been thrown out of the garden after eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and innocense has been lost.

I agree quasi and I experience something similar to you. I live alone and next door to me there is a really messed up family. They fight a lot and it really is a tragic situation. Worst of all is they have a 7 year old little girl who is the greatest kid and you really wish you could whisk her away from the messed up future she's going to end up in. Every time I'm outside she comes running over to chat and I always feel the need to cut it short lest anyone get the wrong idea about the single guy on the street. It sucks but it's reality.

i agree BUT you are not having sleep overs with her, in the same bed, and when she tells her parents that you touched her or something like that, you offer her a ton of money to shut her mouth and make it go away, only to repeat it with another child and another child. if you were friends with a kid and they lied about you, you would fight it to clear your name.

yes Onyma makes a valid point, I have had a couple of friends over the years that were either threatened with false accusations of pedophilia by vindictive bitches or in one case actually accused...luckily for him she later admitted that she was lying.
but as a 'genius' mike should have known that having kids sleep in the same bed as him would be viewed as inappropriate regardless of what actually took place...

And though I will agree some are misjudged, furthermore the media can convict of pedophilia (among other things) even if the courts find you innoscent...

There is something inappropriate about adults having sleepovers in the same bed with children.
You can take a shower with a kid too and just say you are helping them be clean, but you know it is wrong.

regardless of his talent, fame or notoriety the things MJ has done in his 'private life' were just wrong and his past cannot be used to excuse it. Nobody in their right mind hangs a baby over a balcony.
