Seems like the point is "If our flag (culture,laws,social structure, etc.) bothers you, sign up for a ride on the next thing smokin!" I fail to see any duality in a message like that, and whole heartedly approve the message it's sending.
It's kinda like a conversation I had with a cuppla Yankees I overheard bitchin about bein in Texas some years back. I told 'em both that I didn't personally know any one who had invited them here, nor did I feel as if anyones feelings would be hurt if they were to leave, so if they didn like it here, why not tear their asses back to where they came from so we could all be more pleased with ourselves, or ... STFU! That same exact logic seems to apply nicely in this instance too

Sorry, just don't get how there's any sort of duality or hipocracy associated with the statement the banner is making. The US only has one flag, period, and if it bothers you to see it flying here then you're pretty obviously livin in the wrong country. And ... livin here is afterall still a choice which includes options for alternative actions if the flag is such an unwelcomed sight in ones eyes

The worst thing one can say to anyone who's lived here any length of time is, "That's not how we do/did it up north." You can get pissed if you want. You can say what you want. Free speech. I'd fight for your right to free speech whether you agree with me or not. That's the point. THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH and have an open dialog. I'm proud to be and American because of The Constitution of the US of A and what it lays out and it could be a leader in so many ways to the rest of the world. i would hope that everyone else on here from another country would stand up and fight for their flag and heritage as much as i do. so far only Sam and the sack have (in their own ways) all these other things could and most likely and will be taken away from us, but if you fuck with the flag, you're fucking with every person who fought and died for the freedoms you have known all your life. the reason other countries hate us is because they have never smelled of freedom and think that because we are free we think we are better than everyone else. in fact that is the farthest thing from the truth. if anything Americans think they are impervious to attack. guess what people, we are not! it took a while for someone to figure out how to hurt us and now the shit is flying bad. Obama want's to talk to our enemies who are sworn to kill us for our religious beliefs.....
we don't beleive in the same shit, we never have! but we live in peace together. i however think that both political partys are guilty of trying to ram their christianity down other nations and throats....examples? i don't need to list them do i?
i hope this makes sense to you guys, because i think the greatest country in the world can be better. do we need change right now? hell no! we need to get our shit together. there is waaaaay too much going on right now to bring about any change.
if the illegals think they are entitled to things via our constitution, then they need to pay into it like the rest of us. nobody gets anything free here, you work for it like the rest or forget it. the American dream is not something that can be given. you must want it bad enough to sacrifice like everyone else.

I feel there's a huge incongruity in what our government does and how it acts globally relevent to what the average American thinks and feels in how things SHOULD be handled. Sadly, the bulk of the rest of the world only knows the actions of our government and then judges all Americans as a whole by what they see our government do.
The US has always been, and will always be a very diverse place with people from every corner of the globe as citizens here. Our culture is a melting pot of everything the world as a whole has to offer, which serves to make everyone willing to embrace this country, no matter where they are from, a home.
With all that having been said, the US, our society and its diverse culture is NOT for everyone, which is still Ok, since freedom to dissent is (at least) supposed to be a right we hold.
Lastly, if living in the US is so totally disagreeable that one feels they want to be elsewhere, that's within our scope of rights here too as we are free to leave any time we want. Personally, anyone who doesn't want to be here should exercise their rights and get the hell out. The loss will be theirs, not mine, but we'll probably both be better for it all in the end

fossil, how dare you question my loyalty and patriotism to my own country just cos I don't rant and rave about all the problems in the world like you do! I love my country (which is not the USA) and would fight for the freedoms we have if it came to that. No country or system is perfect, but rather than rant and rave like a loon, which, let's face it, you have been doing, express your thought in a forum and manner that will make people listen. You have to remember that we both live in a democracy (and I would suggest my country is more democratic than yours) so if the majority of people don't like what you are proposing, you're shit outta luck! Just be grateful that we both live in a part of the world where we can express our opinions openly.

Well fossil, I can't speak for your countrys flag (personally though I think the USA flag is too iconic in the world to change it), but my countrys flag still has a union jack in the corner even though we have been independent from the british for some time (despite the fact the queen is officially our head of state). As is typical of most "western" countries there are so many other cultures here now. Also, the culture of the native people here is strong and they were never defeated by the invading English, signing a treaty with them instead. I would like to see my countrys flag changed to reflect less of the British influence and more of the native people's culture. I'll proudly stand behind any flag that represents my country though, cos afterall, it's just a bit of cloth, it's what it represents that is important.
