Because like every other person who reads books or knows history, price fixing never works. The Democrats tried it in the 70's and it was a disaster. The supply of gas dropped and there were shortages and long lines. So if you are going to try to be smart, please stop, because every time you open your mouth you prove otherwise.

Todd, honey, there's a difference between "price fixing" and fixing prices. Anyone who knows how life goes is aware that that if a cartel CAN bilk you, they WILL, and it's up to the people or the government or whatever oversight exists to prevent them from getting away with it. If you need a proof on that, consider why we have a minimum wage and a 40 hour work week -- because companies felt they could pay less and work you more, and someone had to change that.

FYI: saw an article online yesterday saying that Verizon Wireless is raising their rates. Justification? Because AT&T raised their rates. That's it. I'm sure their costs are up like everything else, but the reason given by VZW was: because our competition is doing it. I am hoping T-Mobile holds the line.

Another typical day in US politics..

Democrats: create problems, such as high prices.

Republicans: WTF are you doing Dems??

Democrats: Here is a bill that will fix everything! Please vote yes on it so we can save save the day!

The Bill: NOTHING that will solve the problems with a bunch of free money for Democrat cronies..

Republicans: NO.

Democrat controlled media: The Democrats tried to help but those darn Republicans hate America so they voted NO hurrr durrr
