ABS
Based on 2021 Census data, over 122,000 people experience homelessness in
Australia on any given night, with figures rising due to rental stress and a
lack of affordable housing. Primarily driven by domestic violence and financial
hardship, this "hidden" homelessness (overcrowding, couch surfing)
affects young people, families, and Indigenous communities, with over 280,000
clients seeking specialist support in 2023–24.

DVA/ABS
The 2021 Census results estimated that around 1,555 current or former ADF
members identified as experiencing homelessness in Australia

ADF/ABS
Based on 2021 Census data, over 581,000 people alive in Australia have served or
are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
So ~1% of homeless are vets, and 0.3% of ADF service members are homeless.
So.. not really? Like everything, $50M would go a long way to helping 1500
people, but not long term.
People are very expensive pets to keep.
