Of course he had a huge audience upon his return. Regular viewers, friends, and foes tuned in to hear what he had to say. Most of the merely curious soon went back to their normal viewing habits but his show still has a 30-35% increase in viewers over what it was prior to the hubbub and 2.3 million people watching a late-night program on broadcast TV is nothing to sneeze at because viewership of broadcast TV is down overall in the world of streaming. I haven't seen what his YouTube numbers are since the big night, certainly down from that high, but perhaps also higher than the previous numbers.

Now, do tell us again how there weren't threats made by the Brenden Carr that frightened Disney and Nexstar, and that Trump hasn't made further threats against people who make fun of his stupid bullshit which, if you look at Kimmel's comments that got him suspended, is what this was all about - to paraphrase, "Sad about Charlie, but, oh look, big machines making a big golden ballroom." What a tribute to a "friend"/sycophant.

You're beating a dead horse here, free speech won......this time.

We don't get a lot of these shows Down Under but we are not living under a rock (well actually...).
I find most of the late night guys funny, when they started off that is.
I especially like Stephen Colbert as a comedian.
But they all suffer from TDS and are quite frankly boring and at times just plain evil.
thumbs
down
Seinfeld nailed it a few years back describing comedy as a slalom skiing event.
When they move the gates around, you have to adjust course and keep making the turns.
Otherwise you crash out.

I haven't really watched a US late night show for years, pretty much since being a teenager and not being able to sleep.

Letterman was really the only one we ever got on free to air that I can remember and it showed around 11pm or midnight or something. Cable TV (Fox/Sky) had others but I've honestly never watched one, at least more than once or twice; except I didn't mind Craig Ferguson and would at least watch the monologue if it was on. I don't give a shit about the 'guests' though, never really did.

I quite like John Oliver, which will show my evil leftist (at least for the US, I've said before I consider myself heavily centrist) leanings but I'm not sure if he counts in this as a once a week show and not really having guests. It's more a 30 minute long monologue.

Either way wouldn't shock me that Kimmel had a massive jump after all the free publicity that was received, and some will continue to tune in if they like it and others just wanted to see what all the fuss was about and moved on. Any broadcast TV will never have the ratings it used to, because .. well, who the fuck watches commercial/FTA TV anymore?

I'm sure ratings will return to what they were 3 weeks ago soon enough and trend lower in line with every FTA TV show on earth.

Edit: Kind of interesting though that I highlighted a Scot and a Brit as 2 US show hosts I don't mind..

I think it will be all down hill for him.
It's more about advertisers changing their taste and networks not wanting to risk losing the revenue.

Okay let's recap..
JK spews anti-Trump and anti-conservative vitriol on his show 5 nights a week
Ratings on downward trend as people that were really only tuning in to see the celebrity guests grow weary of his orange man bad schtik.
One of the networks broadcasting his show wants to merge with another one but need FCC approval.
JK says some straight up bullshit.
FCC says hey that was bullshit. Stop doing bullshit, or else..
Networks pull JK off the air
Retards piss their pants, crying "muh free speech"
Networks say it was just suspension not cancelation and put JK show back on air.
Retards claim victory in battle against orange man bad.

Questions:
So are networks not going to get FCC approval for merger because King Trump will surely be angry about JK being back on air..

Is it okay now to yell FIRE in a crowded theater? Because that's kinda what JK did..

How many people tuned in to watch JK return to air show and realized what an enormous assclown he really is?

Key phrase: "FCC says hey that was bullshit. Stop doing bullshit, or else."
Or else. That threat is the first amendment violation you've been in denial about whatever you think of Kimmel or Colbert or any of them. Same thing that applied to my neighbor flying the flag for two years saying, "Fuck Joe Biden and Fuck You if you voted for him," or the guy I saw last week on the sidewalk at the busiest intersection in town with a sign in huge lettering saying, "Democrats Can Suck My Dick." The government cannot intervene.

No. The question is, what does "or else" mean?

You say it means, don't say things we don't like or else we will punish you.

I say it means, don't violate the rules or else we will punish you.

We have a difference of Opinions.
You stupid fucking idiot moron asshole crybaby. (Amidointhisrite?)

"These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead." That's a direct quote from Brendan Carr, Chairman of the FCC. What rules are you talking about being broken that deserved that threat? Your mental gymnastics are hilarious.

You can mock me for calling you an asshole or whatever all you want but you're the one who started the name calling a couple of years ago when totally unrelated to anything we were talking about you called me a pedophile, you shithead, one of the far right's favorite things to do at the time. Nowadays, though, they've backed off on those malicious accusations as more and more MAGATs are exposed as pedophiles and they're afraid to release the Epstein files and get some justice for those girls. So where are the Epstein files Trump wants to keep hidden now after previously promising their release, is your orange god in there, and if so how will you twist things to make it somehow acceptable, excusable? More mental gymnastics, I reckon.

I like Gutfeld and I watch the Fox recaps on yooboob.
In many ways he is just the opposite of the TDS people.
But as he is happy to pint out, he slags Demochumps off by calling the fat or other childish (but hilarious) insults.
He doesn't call people sHitler, Yahtzees or Flashists.
He doesn't call to arms, he call us all to mock.
And mock we shall.

What's the population of the Greater Portland area where statistics are gleaned?

I saw the lefty Gov trying to troll the right by wearing body armour and being "sardonic" in a live broadcast.
But 4 people were murdered that week and he was just hoping none of their families were watching as he said "nothing to see here" for a point scoring excercise.
I'm with pulse, I hate all people.
