hey pulse, repetitive images are annoying. this one is on here at least three
times now. it could be a danger to the freshness of the site if images just
recycle every few months or 2000 uploads. what is to be done?

I check the site regulary and I haven't seen it before.
I say delete the duplicates.

With currently 517 pages of uploads it's pretty hard to tell what's already
been posted. Especially if you're new to the site.

yeah i know, no big deal, its fine. but that doesn't mean it is optimal. I
just know i find it a negative and don't know how to fix it. and pulse is smart
guy, so maybe he knows. or maybe the whole teenage set will ome up with some
solution, who knows. next stop, forum.

We do have dupe checking, but if changes are made to the image (changes format
etc) we're unable to tell that it's a dupe. The best bet is to post under the
image that it's a dupe, with the original image id!, and add it to the duplicate
category. Then it makes it easier for an admin to delete the image from the
site.

Why don't we just categorize it as duplicate.
Then administrators can review periodically and clean up the dups. I think that
would be too much work really.
With the freedom of naming for the files, and lack of categorization of uploads
this is a very difficult problem to solve.
I fear there will always be annoyances.
