Quasi that was originally a Russian cartoon about Australia. It dates to the
1800's. They did a big study of the western world a few years back and, whilst
I don't read Russian, the Australian material is online (apparently in complete
form) - and affects their firearms legislation: once you obtain a Hunting
Licence (what they call it over there), you're pressured to buy the civilian
edition of the AK16 (the replacement for the AK47). It has the same weight
proportions as the armed forces one and a lot of interchangeable parts, whilst
not being able to be made full automatic, even in a back yard workshop. They
pressure you to buy one even if it's not suitable for what you intend to hunt.
The material from that study is where I saw the cartoon.
That way they can form an army at rapid speed, as Australia did in the First
World War, when every man and his dog owned an SMLE in .303 - the same rifle in
the same calibre as the armed forces.
