Dogs work 100% for food reward.
Any other traits be it personality or behavioral are just made up by humans to
satisfy human needs.
Dogs do not smile or frown and any attempt at
Anthropomorphism is just a human reaction to fill an
emotional void.
Having said that. I love dogs!
Cat people are sickos (eh Mr Kim?).

My dog cries when he's upset and barks when he's happy.
When he went to puppy school the instructor described him as "highly food
motivated". He'll do literally fucking anything for a treat. I reckon if
there were enough treats on offer he'd cure cancer.
With that said I'm not convinced. He definitely has a different expression when
he's annoyed vs playing. But, maybe it's just me.

Oh yes dogs have many expressions and behaviors that we recognise.
And I have met humans that growl when they want you to stay away too.,
But I reckon with the expression of squealing in pain and whimpering etc, the
dogs expressions do not match human expressions but we learn them.
This dog for example, is not smiling. Dog's don't smile.

A buddy of mine once espoused a view on dog owners vs cat owners I pretty well
agree with.
Dog owners are more into the concept of control while cat owners are more, yeah,
whatever types.
Been known to growl on occasion but most commonly in frustration, usually with a
machine of some sort
