Still remember marveling at the early Betamax units that were considered a
"steal" at $1500 ... when you could snag 3 or 4 decent cars or 15lbs
of weed for that amount

Dad had a beta VCR; I always thought they were better than VHS. Smaller tapes,
better image quality.
The worse standard usually wins.

I know a guys, older dude, 70's sound technician, with hundreds of Beta
tapes.
There is of course no video on them.
The sound quality of Beta was way more that needed for home video but nerds like
him have been archiving music on them since day one.
NEEEERDS!!!
