So let's say I make $10M bucks this year.
I then hire an "artist" for $25K to make some "art" for me.
They puts some pastel strokes on some canvas and sign it.
I thank the useless fuck and pay the money.

Then I get a mate of mine who happens to be an appraiser,
to appraise the "artwork" and he values it at $10m bucks.
Noice.

I then donate the $10M "artwork" to a museum or gallery.
I then claim this as a charity donation "to the arts" and of course...

...I pay no income tax this year

Fast forward to me at said gallery being heavily ironic.
"This is just stoopid" I say out loud.
Then the hipster doofus with a man-bun standing next to me says,
"No, you just don't understand because you are uncultured".

Woberto if you would edit that to be less crude I could link people to it, as it's such a good description of a large part of the contemporary art world.

There's also a small part of the population to whom the lines between social climbing and comment riding are blurred.

A few other influences but I don't know how to put them.

Here is another way people like this roll.

We the pleb's are taxed.
Leftist elites start an NGO.
NGO is funded by the Leftist Government (or USAID just for context).
Commies working in the NGO do zero actual work.
NGO pays the commies huge salaries. Ironic huh? Wait for it...
...Commies donate much of those salaries to Leftist Government.

By the way, it's funded by the taxpayer, donated to a Marxist political party. The same party that approved funding the NGO.

Or it's donated to a Marxist cause. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of nice houses were built or bought that way, in rural regions, for dedicated marxists to own, move into and wave the flag for animals, environment, whatever...

'Non Government Organisations' are suspicious by their very nature - as they are a form of government. One of the smartest things Vladimir Putin and co. have done is clamp down on them - they didn't go far enough: NGO's should be banned and the nation funding them in your country retaliated against.
