There is a truism though "Until a sale happens, nothing happens."

Without sales the rest of the pyramid crumbles to naught

Yeah, but business is definitely a team effort, and the sales team can't sell anything without procurement, for example.

I kinda agree GAK but the fact still remains sales can and often does still sell a product that doesn't even exist yet. This then leads to development funding, necessary infrastructure and salaries throughout the organization. Happens all the time, just ask Elon Musk
