I certainly don't think they should be fact checking. I also agree that
people's views are the people's, not the platform's responsibility. But then
what would I know? I'm not a billionaire social media owner.

This is EXACTLY why I despise any form of censorship!
It's only human that anyone seeking to delineate and define the veracity of
anothers thoughts or ideas will always do so from within their own set of
standards which means it's always going to be a subjective call on their part

Yeah it's a tricky one. I'm not really for the whole censorship side of things;
but I do understand (and this ISN'T a Trump thing, this is for anybody in a high
position of power) the checking of facts disseminated by a head of state or
global body who is representing inaccuracies as factual and true; ie not stating
an opinion, stating a fact, which leads to actions on other people's behalf.
This would be somebody like Trump, somebody like the W.H.O. speaking on a
pandemic, somebody like our Prime Minister. If they are using a platform to
speak to their constituents then I do believe those statements should be
factually accurate. Otherwise they need to be stated as opinions.
I just don't know if it's the platform's responsibility to do the job; certainly
not without warning.
