Here in the sticks there's precious few cases but I'm also less than 50 miles
from the highest overall concentration of cases in the state

A few more there than I'd have thought. Most of what we see in the US is New
York and a bit around the West coast.

Yeah well Texas is home to probably the biggest airport in the world.

And that's exactly where the biggest hot spots are located, within around an 80
or so mile radius of DFW airport.
Fun facts about DFW airport: Is its own city complete w/it's own police force
and fire fighting facilities; DFW contains literally miles of steel guard rails,
lamp posts etc. all made of a special alloy that is engineered to rust over,
seal itself and then never deteriorate further.
The alloy was used to save $$ by never needing to be painted. This lasted for
many years until some bureaucrat decided they wanted to change the color scheme
and paint all these metal surfaces.
So now, like the Golden Gate Bridge and other huge structures like it there's a
paint crew required to never stop painting DFW airport at a cost of millions
annually

'berto, the largest airport in the world is not Texas. It's Georgia -
Hartsfield Jackson, Atlanta to be exact. Largest number of flights and
passengers. Dallas/Fort Worth is 10th, and third busiest in the USA (Chicago
O'Hare being second).
The busiest airport in terms of international passengers is Dubai (although many
are transit passengers). The busiest US airport in terms of international
passengers is New York JFK, but that is 19th in the world.

Well it's bigger than the island of Manhattan.
So that's a pretty big airport.

In '74, the 1st year DFW was open I flew out to NYC on my way to Paris. I
remember thinkin how it was HUGE compared to our old airport, Love Field.
Funny thinkin back on it now but while we waited for our flight we went
wandering around the terminal and there was almost no one there. Today, walkin
through any terminal it's just a moving sea of humanity
