Is this for real? If it is I damned sure applaud the common sense of such
policies

Not sure if the poster is real but that is the current policy down here.
The true goal is to prevent leaky boats full of gooks becoming shark food. That
makes bad TV.
But seriously, these people are not stoopid, they are desperate. So if they know
that the policy is to send them (men, women & children) into detention
centers and to NEVER settle them in Australia, then they won't take the risk of
a dodgey boat or a people smuggler.

This poster was not issued by the Australian Government however
the liberals / coalition are currently pushing to have a law similar to this put
in place asap
and labor is planning to block it in the senate.
The real posters are not printed in English.
Most refugees from Syria, Iraq, North Africa (whether legal or illegal)
can't speak English let alone read it.
Those who have already made it to Christmas Island and were transferred to
Naru
are now being sent over to Cambodia, due to a multi-million dollar deal between
the two governments. So even as we speak, they're not being moved on to
Australian soil.
While there are refugees, there will always be argument for
letting them in or keeping them out.
