One thing you cats down there have that the car companies here should never
have dropped from their line ups - yutes.
Both Ford and GM used to sell 'em here, but not in many years now

As cars & trucks get smaller in the USA it is inevitable that you will get
some utes.
After all, our Holden utes are basically Chevy's.
This was my fave model.

I'd think that would sell like hot cakes here, which really puzzles me why they
don't market 'em in the US!

I first became aware of the utes when I watched the best tv series ever via
Netflix, "McLeod's Daughters". Not since the El Camino have I heard
of them and if I didn't need something which seats more people I would love to
have one.

They're pretty much dead here too, since the Ford Falcon and Holden (GM)
Commodore are basically end of life. They're both not being manufactured anymore
as of next year, and they're the base platform for the utes.
Ford are starting to import the Mustang as a replacement, but it's a totally
different car to the Falcon. I don't know if they'll attempt to replace the ute
from another platform, but I doubt it.

We had 2 doors, 4 doors, station wagons and a version similar to your ute [
upload.wikimedia.org] all marketed as Falcons here from
1960 - 1970-1/2.
In their day they were a compact car, though they were as large as most anything
currently on the road.
