Nice writeup. I've heard some of his recordings on a local blues radio show.
Too bad. I guess the early rough living took it's toll.

we ( a group of friends in high school ) hired Bugs several times to play at
our keg parties ( '79, '80, and '81 ). he was an inspiration to me and a few old
band members. his unforgettable style and twist on the Blues is to this day not
fully appreciated or even heard of.

Yeah, that's gotta hit home for ya. At least some folks remember him. There are
WAY more awesome musicians that are not widely known than there are known ones.
That's just the way it is with just about everything though.
That's one thing I really like about the Blues Power radio show I referred to,
they manage to scour up some obscure stuff that is truly great. The guy who
started the show, Gavin "Rooster" Fox (RIP) went to great lengths on
his own time to find the really good stuff to share with us. He died in `99 at
51 years young. Lou Gehrig's disease.
