11 th Century Iron Sword.
This sword has a close corollary in the Schweizerisches National Museum, Zurich.
The sword appears to be a type XII withe a type B1 Pommel.
The cross-style is Unclassified, probably late Viking, Petersen's Type X.
The sword is in an excavated condition, with pitted surface as shown.
The handle has been professionally repaired as shown, following a clean fracture.
Overall sword length: 34 1/4 inches.
Blade Length: 29 1/2 inches.
Blade width at base: 5.5 cm
Length of cross-bar: 11.7 cm. Cross style 1.
