This is a bad idea, but it could be easily fixed. The collection spindle should feed so that the poop side is in. It is an easy change.

So the next time your wife says that you put the toilet paper roll on wrong, you can nod knowingly and agree, saying "sorry, I will try to remember: poop side in, poop side in"
