This pic was taken back before color film, actually, (since ages ago), but was colorized using a specialized "oil paint" technique perfected by Los Italianos, a craftsmen's guild out of Florence. You can't quite tell from this picture, but these are actually Roman Gladiators dressed up in modern day "sports" gear.

The blood is real.
