As for France in world war 2, for people that actually look at history without
bias, there is NO QUESTION that France was complicit in the eradication of Jews
and that they put up a half hearted attempt at resisting the Germans. They were
basically collaborators with the Germans and viewed the future of Europe as
being ruled by a powerful German totalitarian state and they wanted to share in
the spoils. The famed French reisistance was actually far weaker per capita
than the Dutch resistance or any of the Eastern European countries.

Of course Anthony, that seems obvious. The point is so much more good could be
done and so many more lives saved by using the 300 Billion the US has spent on
Iraq in other ways. I believe the post started with planes and ports and moved
to "accidental" deaths. The point being is the if the 300 billion was
put into port safety,aitline safety, auto safety, medical care...(list just
about anything here), much more good would be done than is being done in Iraq.
Certainly for the American people and probably for the world. What is short
sighted is thinking invading Iraq and in the process turning the world against
the US will make us significantly safer in the long term.
I'm not saying we should put 300Billion into better ait bags simply the use of
money,lives and resources was ill advised and could have been MUCH more
productive used in other ways.

of social development and economics. The result is a generation of young people
that have nothing better to do than to think about religion and dream up ways to
achieve glory in the name of an imaginary entity. Hopefully, a strong and
wealthy, democratic and secular nation in the middle of the area will stimulate
social and later economic progress in the surrounding region. This will then
hopefully act as a counter to Islamic extremism. The fanatical religious leaders
simply will not have any attractive options for energetic young people. They
will have too much at stake and too many other attractive opportunities. This
possibility is worth FAR MORE than 300 billion dollars.
