I still pop my nose in most days to see what's up but have to admit it's pretty quiet. Also seeing a lot of posts like you mentioned which make me roll my eyes and head back out. Would love to see it back to the community it was but I don't have any quick suggestions. I do miss it.

Sorry guys, have to lodge a complaint here. The old version of the site (while very small) used to be usable on my mobile phone but not really anymore. it becomes an exercise in scrolling now to see anything useful. I opened it for about 2 minutes this morning and quickly gave up trying to see what was new. Sorry

My only suggestion would be to tighten it up a lot. Looks nice and clean, just too much white space and needing to scroll to see things now.

How about a small software change to check for the words "min 6 characters" in an image title and force the user to type a real title?

A young blonde girl in her late teens, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a "handy woman" and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do. "Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint the porch" he said. "How mu

I took a few minutes this morning and played with the CSS on a capture of the front page. Nothing ground breaking here but just a general clean up (fonts, spacing, colours, input fields, shadows, padding, etc.) Feel free to view the CSS file and use whatever. Wasn't a lot I could do quickly as a lot of items don't have their own classes so I couldn't control them but it's a start. Didn't make

Here's the cursor one I was mentioning. I notice the preview images have a class name of "preview", add this to that class (just the bold part): .preview { ....... cursor:pointer; } That will turn the mouse cursor into a pointing finger when you move over an image. Since (from what I see commented out) you have changed from using <a> elements to <li> elements you h

lol on the test environment. S'ok, I throw changes up on production systems when I think no one is looking too and considering that it's 3am here in Canada I'll assume you were doing the same. I'll ignore you're on the other side of the planet If I get a chance maybe tomorrow I'll rip the HTML of a page or two down to my server and fiddle with some CSS ideas for you. Really liking the 2x m

More pictures gets a little visually confusing to me, found it harder to scan a page. I'd throw a cursor:pointer style on the images class so you know they are clickable. Drop shadows and rounded corners are nice touches for the browsers that support them. Typically I drop shadow with Black (or something darn close) to prevent that "gray glow" effect you get with grays when th

Nothing in the least against pro_junior as I love most of the stuff he posts but, should a picture probably be up on the site for more than ~12 hours before being chosen as IOTW?

Re: the logo branding discussion.. on a 1-10 to me it's more of a 5 in annoyance but I also understand the necessary evil reasons. You can also prevent offsite hotlinking through other means. Put in an image request engine that receives the parameter of the day, use the referrer, etc. I come across it being done regularly when image searching on Google, several sites will not let you view an i

Yeah, the server isn't serving pages up as JPG's anymore. They are coming down as some other MIME type I'm guessing so the browser doesn't know what to do with them. I can't right click and view image anymore either... the browser just asks to save the incoming stream as it doesn't know it's an image. This may be the key.... the filenames are also not the uploaded names anymore but somethin

I too found it incredibly annoying last night with all the movie uploads. Took way too long to get through even 2 pages of them so after glancing ahead a couple more pages I gave up. One of the beauty of Plus was that when it's just pictures you can pop in for a quick laugh. Skim the thumbs and pick a couple to look at, then take off back to what you were doing. The movies just don't lend the

Nice work! You might want to consider not having them auto-play. I tend to open the interesting images off a page in seperate tabs then go through them. Now each one starts playing immediately and what I hear is the audio from all the files at the same time. I'd like to just hit play on each when I get to the tab. Just a thought
