From what I see the current recession is still in the early stages of the previous 2. We are still in the downturn phase and of course it looks a lot worse because we are dealing with inflation issues and the spike in oil prices we had and it looks really bad.

I just hope it does what happened before and their "stimulus package" somehow actually helps and we bottom out and see the upward turn soon.

Just look at how many promises Obama has already broken. I think he actually did make the right decisions for the most part and the campaign promises were made in ignorance just to get elected. It's really no different from what most all the previous presidents have done. I think we are all going to have to "bend over and unclench" and deal with some higher taxes in the future or our country is going to be so deep in debt we will never have a prayer of even paying half of it off.

*edit* oops I was thinking dollars not jobs. I think a lot of those jobs are lost for good with the situation a lot of these companies are in. What I think should happen is the government and the auto industry somehow breaks the back of the UAW unions and get's their wages and benefits more on par with the other car companies. Then we need to stop outsourcing jobs just because labor overseas is cheaper (that would require a lot of government intevention) and get those jobs we lost back in our country.
