In the event we are ever attacked by a nuke, yes indeed the cry for blood will be on most American lips and the response is not likley to be anywhere near as measured as it was post 9-11, which is scary to say the least.
Though at the end of the cold war with Russia I put away most of my fears about a nuclear holocaust, those fears have certainly resurfaced in recent years.
I hope for all our sakes as citizens of the world that we never know what nuclear winter or large scale nuclear devastation means to our planet and our lives. If it ever occcurs, we'll all lose.
