What I know is that for decades well-meaning American presidents have tried everything to bring about peace in the middle east and we've had very limited success. In his last year in office Clinton tried to shove peace down their throats and I don't fault him for it because we had tried everything else. But of course it did not work. Now we're trying to give them hope in their future in the form of democracy so they can have a voice in their own lives, and also because democracies have a tendency to take care of the bad guys in their own society's. If this doesn't work, to put it bluntly we're all fucked because there is nothing left to try in the middle east. I support Israel’s right to exist but even if they packed up and moved tomorrow, this shit will not stop. The nuts in that part of the world will just turn their hatred towards us
