You have a point, they'll nuke a US city if they can (relatively unlikely, not impossible). But its much more than just "knowing your enemy", that ignores the last 50 years of US foreign policy.. what we say we do, vs. what we actually do.
Remember, the "Gulf of Tonkin" incident that "started" the Vietnam war was caused by US warships sailing up and down, bombing the coast until they got a military response.
What makes you sure that Gulf War I wasn't started on a similar pretext, then continued for *12 years*, and =then= we actually bothered to invade Iraq.
Iraq is fucked. Forever. Destroyed.
Ruined infrastructure. Destroyed water treatement. Ruined landscape. Depleted uranium dust everywhere. Sectarian violence. Alliances and bonds of trust and hate that Americans can never understand. Flapping like so many tattered strips of cloth on razor wire.
The Iraqi dead are well over 100,000. "Combatants" and non-combatants (ie. women and children) alike.
Our boys are being sent into a death-trap that they'll never understand, and serves only the ultra-rich. Don't you see that?
