zxz's subtlety appears to be wasted on you, f_d. Ginger is rarely used as a noun in Britain except to refer to the spice of that name or as rhyming slang for a homosexual. It is more often used =as an adjective= to describe those of that hair colour. The plural "gingers", as you state it, would only be taken one way, since the spice 'ginger' would not normally be pluralised.
f-d is incredibly adept at missing the point. What zxz is saying is that most (normal) men find red-headed women attractive but are repelled by red-headed males (especially if they are also ginger [see above]).
