used to have a pencil machine near the caffeteria in elemtary school that dispenced 2 football team themed pencils in color and logo. Then us kid would pencil fight holding ones pencil perpendicular to your opponents in hand to flick/chop your pencil in half is the goal. if your pencil survived it, you'd trade turns. I of course got Miami Dolphins pencils, just some strange luck, but I'd get into a pencil fight and the Dolphin's pencil held up and beat the opponents penic first try. Then I started trading for them and had like 30 of these pencils stacked up. (I wonder what happened to them) so I decided the Miami Dolphins had to win the Super Bowl and they did that year. Kinda anti climactic, but since then I just like the Dolphins cause they didn't disapoint me. drinking smiley

when I was in the first or second grade, all the other kids were talking about their favorite team...so I decided I needed to have a favorite team...I went with the chargers because I thought the lightning bolt on their helmets looked cool...

lol, I still say the chargers if anyone asks my favorite team, but truth is I'm really not a fan of football...I enjoyed playing when i was younger, but never really got into watching it...

I've been to a few Mariners games and those were a lot of fun...

Growin up here in Big D the Cowboys were a natural for me. Havin grown up watchin Don Meredith, Roger Staubach, then the "shit years" with Danny White and eventually on to watchin one of the best quarterbacks ever as Troy Aikman led the team to multiple Super Bowls I've spent many joy filled hours (drunk and otherwise) watchin the "Boys".

Back when Dallas and Denver played in the Super Bowl in '78 I was on the road workin and wound up in Springfield, Ill. the weekend of the game. I went on a scouting excursion the night before the game to find a place to watch the game and came across a nice lil hippy bar.

As usual, my accent was a dead give away and everyone in the place started callin me "Tex". They told me there was another Texan that came in pretty regularly, and sure enough he showed up a bit later.

As it turned out he was a Dallas hater and proceeded to tell me how the Broncos were gonna kick the shit outta the Cowboys. The shit talkin was goin back and forth for a while and then the lil fucker stood up and decided to take a swing at me!

Not really wantin to stomp his ass (and him bein about 4" shorter and much smaller than myself) I just grabbed the lil dude and locked him up with a bear hug till he calmed his ass down, then let him go. We eventually made a $20 bet on who would win and agreed to meet the next day to watch the game at the bar.

I showed up the next day to watch the game, but he never did. I had quite a time watchin Dallas stomp the livin shit outta Denver that day (27-10) as Staubach fed Craig Mortons words back to him handily about who was the better quarterback and ... Randy White and Harvey Martin made it a decidely looooong afternoon for the Denver offense.
