I often only vote for the stuff I like and not for the stuff I don`t, unless I really think it sucks so then I vote 1. So I almost never use 2 and 3. I try to vote down f-d just because he is such an ego-tripper. ;-) I also steal into his house and erase his best pics because I am also an ego-tripper and can`t handle the heat.

Well I don't know what the fuss is about. If you are mature enough and don't mind pictures of ancient ruines and other cultures, Fossil's stuff is fantastic. I tend to vote 5 on most of these pictures. They are brilliant and a window into past culture. Some of us can't afford to travel and see the sights in person, so they are a God send as far as I'm concerned. Keep up the good work Fossil.

orlando, +/- thing makes absolutely no difference - don't worry about it

shadez, dyndns makes no difference to the site..

when you connect to the site from an ip, say (this is just random) 85.1.52.1 we do a lookup of that IP address (which resolves to 1-52.1-85.cust.bluewin.ch in this case). We then take that address and re-verify it by doing a lookup of 1-52.1-85.cust.bluewin.ch and resolve it back to 85.1.52.1 and get a match. At no point is are we ever aware about a dyndns hostname - they're only useful as a utility to connect to your own computer .. they're a pointer, basically. Your computer at home still resolves to your ISPs ip/domain name.

And if you had a static IP you wouldn't really need a dyndns name anyway (its name itself indicates what you have - a dynamic IP, hence why the site seems to 'forget' your votes after your IP changes)

There's nothing you can do to get around this issue. If you don't have a static IP address, eventually your votes will (appear to) disappear in a puff of logic.

The sad thing that I see happening here, is that there are very few submittions from all the people that come to this website. When there are submittions made, the poster gets negative votes for it. Being thick skinned or not it tends to get alittle old and might very well cause people to NOT share something. I wonder if there would be more submitions if people just try'd to see things from the submitters point of view. For myself I won't vote on it if I don't like it. so any pic I see gets a 3 4 5 or nothing. I do forget to vote time to time as well

seems to me that some people don't like any of the images loaded on the site (giving everything 1's). funny that they spend the time on something they don't like.
maybe you should spend that time finding another site that suits your tastes.
1's are a point for the uploader dipsticks, all you're accomplishing is giving that uploader more points.
