It seems that animated gifs are playing funny buggers with php5 (we upgraded php over the weekend and have made changes to use new imagick extensions for thumb generation)

I'm aware of the problem and will fix as soon as i have some time, in the meanwhile you'll just have to put up with the large thumbnails it generates in the gallery.
