Hey guys,

Just figured out how to redirect you back to the original picture once you add a comment. Should make things easier.

Thank you, sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar. Or I guess you could be a gentlewoman, I don't really know, but, you know what I mean.

That's according to DK time, which could be anything these days smiling smiley
Anyway PJ, get stuck into your archive and post some more good stuff because the standard of posts lately is prettly lame.

There's a billion and one monkeys at a billion and one typewriters, and the sound of all of them screaming is the same as one song by paris hilton.

DK, could we have a user config or other method that hides anon comments against images? It would make the entire plus613 experience much more enjoyable.
If anyone disagrees with this, please point me to ONE anon comment that doesn't read like spam or jarred.

I like the idea woberto and kinda the idea of the little red/green +/-'s is for that very purpose. However we don't get enough votes in for it to be really that useful. What i really want is for each post to be ranked and then only show the posts that rank high by default, however it means a rewrite of the template for the forums. I'll have a play over the next week or so and see what i can come up with.

if you rank the posts though, does it not ruin the chronology of a running commentary? like the "one word story" would be out of sorts?

I recommend this only for image posts, not forum threads.

you still have running commentary's in the pic comment section though as well. I mean I am not poo pooing your idea, but I am seeing a possible flaw that can be ironed out. for instace like doing a poll in the forum section, why not allow the registered unloader have a check box for a 'most popularized comments only'

???

I only want the "choice" to hide anon comments on images.
I have never known an anon comment to "contribute" anything and I strenuously urge everyone not to reply to an anon comment as it only encourages spam.
Continuity?
I love cheese.

maybe you can get a filter switch that adds to your logon cookie that works like the read and unread highlights to the forum? That filter switch would filter out anon postings. I don't mind reading through the anon stuff, but not all the time and could see how that might be useful.

Speaking of cookies, DK needs to look at security, I stole Fossil's the other day and it worked. See if you can pick which post was mine?

If you have access to someone's cookie you will be able to post as them. I used to tie cookies with IP's but too many people would complain that they weren't able to access the site due to passing through a proxy farm and coming from a different IP each time. Nothing can really be done to get around this as a lot of proxies also don't pass on the 'X-Forwarded-for' header.

Unless I'm missing something else where you didn't need to know fossil's cookie. That would be a security problem and one you should email me about winking smiley

12345??
hey that's my password too!

I like the filter idea...would be nice to filter out anonymous bullshit...would also be nice to filter out individual users...

There was a now defunct website that I used to visit that had the 'block user' option in the forum section...invariably I would end up having to un-block someone so I could read their posts in order for the rest of the posts to make sense...

(PJ)knows, see thats my point. you'd miss half the picture if you were to filter out anyone. freedom of speech perhaps? I don't like rolling through screens of anon powered dogmatic diatribe, but it fits in to a bigger picture that makes it interesting to be here. Furthermore Not all the registered users have something to say or add and if it were not for the Anons and their random thoughts of witlessness and weak minded passive aggressive behavior, we'd have partial to no traffic at all sometimes.
