Eh. The Holden Commodore SS by another name. Cool car, but I'm hoping that GM will get it right and build the new Chevy Impala SS with the 400HP LS2 or LS3 they've been promising us stateside. At least its rear wheel drive instead of all the front drive shit they've been building for years.

I'll keep driving the last great rear drive sedan they ever built, the 1994-1996 Chevy Impala SS. I own two.thumbs down

BTW, Select middle Eastern markets get the Commodore as a Chevy Caprice SS.

The Commodore SS-V certainly looks serious but somewhat plain without the bonnet scoops and two-piece grille of the Pontiac G8, but I'm thinking that they weren't taking any chances after the Pontiac GTO, which you Australians know as the Holden Monaro.

The GTO suffered primarily from it's appearance, looking more like a Chevy Cavalier on steroids. When I was at a Pontiac / GMC dealer a couple of years ago looking at a big pickup truck, a deep rumble echoed off the wall in back of the dealership's lot, which opened up in a full throttle V8 roar down the street past where I was standing.

I looked around to try to determine what muscle car was creating that wonderful sound, but couldn't place it in the traffic driving by. The salesman pointed to what appeared to be a boring little red subcompact and said that's the GTO you're listening to.

I was quite amused.

If I could get the last model V8 Commodore at a reasonable price, I almost would.

Cheapest VFII V8 manual is $40K on carsales at the moment, with 165,000km on the clock. Pass.

Most expensive is $150K and has done 5000km. They're not even HSV versions.
