US taxpayers have over the years poured millions from their tax dollars (by way
of federal mandate, of course) into the Head Start Program, and recently some
congressional members are clamoring for even greater expenditures for the
program as they seek to include ALL Pre-school age children in the program.
Meanwhile the governments own accounting and assessment of the programs
effectiveness show almost no positive effect from the students who have been
enrolled in the project.

Read it and weep all you liberalist entitlement spreading bufoons. Just one more
example of the ineffectiveness of most things the government claims we so
desperately need as a society to make a positive change

Headstart would help more, if the smarter kids weren't forced to "dumb
down" by teachers, so the other kids don't feel stupid. My girls were told
to take longer on schoolwork, as they were finishing too fast. Homeschooling,
now.
