Yeah, can't say I voted for Trump because he was a smooth orator/bullshitter but mostly because he wasn't and ... because he wasn't part of the body politic, nor could he BE bought, unlike every one of his predecessors in current memory cool

Obama's speeches are worth as much as the Mayor of Clermont's speech at the end of Kelly's Heroes.

It's dumb because Trump uttered the word "potato"? That's a crazy position in an of it self.
I think that one of the reasons Trump got elected is that A LOT of citizens were sick of hearing lofty speeches with perfect syntax, AND THEN NOTHING GETS DONE. We've heard for 2 presidencies that Clinton's 'great' China deal was actually a BAD deal, and that we were getting ripped off WITH NOTHING BEING DONE about it. That's 16+ years if you count the years China ripped us off during the Clinton presidency! And that means that they are stupid, cowardly, or in on the rip off.
And do you think that what's going on in Virginia isn't crazy? Oh, they actually aren't trying to infringe on the 2nd Amendment? ... Because that's the substance of what Trump said. And then, he tags a little joke on the end, but That's the real problem?
It's actually pretty simple. When Trump speaks don't listen to the words. Because he isn't looking for points in English Composition. He is DOING something. He is placing a stone on a Go board. (by the way, I tried a bit to find the entire clip for context but was unsuccessful)...
Most of us know that the word potato(es) is often used when referring to someone's hind quarters, e.g. "sack of potatoes". So if you substitute in kind you get:
"You'll have nobody guarding your ass."
And I'm sure that you know that that is exactly what the 2nd Amendment is all about.

It's not just this statement, it's all the dumbass stuff he's said over the last 40 years that show what a dangerous adolescent minded dope he is. You've been conned if you think he really gives a crap about you or your rights but you keep drinking his koolaid because it tastes so good to you.

If finally seeing a president stand up and say we should be putting America and Americans before any other country and their citizens is drinkin the Koolaid please pour me a second glass.

Forget all the predecessors that sold our industries, any type of fair trade agreements, our national security and our rights down the river.

I couldn give 2 shits if President Trump spoke in Pig Latin so long as he keeps on workin for AMERICANS and our interests at home and abroad

But notice Quasi, that you've still said ZERO about the substance about what Trump said. You simply make a value judgment; call names. And I would anticipate that you would do the same about anything else Trump has said. If not, then start here with the statement at hand. Otherwise, if you have nothing of substance to add why speak?

"We're going after Virginia, with your crazy governor, we're going after Virginia. They want to take your Second Amendment. You know that, right? You'll have nobody guarding your potatoes."

Go ahead. Pick it apart. Why is it dumb?

Q man, because he says things I wanna hear, hardly. His oratory skills are far from enabling him to do so and honestly I wish he'd talk less and just let his policies and actions speak for themselves. Those things are why I approve of his direction.

BTW, I guess I'm missing something. WTF happened in 1910 that you're referencing confused smiley

Most of Trump's supporters don't like him.
You get that quasi?
I'll type it again more slowly...Most. Of. Trump's. Supporters. Don't. Like. Him.

Probably just about everyone wishes he would just shut up and do his job.
But, IF you THINK about it he has done a pretty good job as President so far..he just says a bunch of crap along the way...
and it has been said already, people voted for him, and Will vote for him Again, because he is not a career politician. That fact matters more than his speaking abilities..

Then you have to consider that what Most American people like even less than Trump, are Liberals.

Anyway..I doubt my comments will have Any effect on your biases so go ahead and call me a names and tell me to drink my koolaid (smiley that rolled his eyes so far they made a complete revolution in it's eye sockets)

I'm genuinely curious. Why do you think he's done a good job? What are the measurements of success?
Mrkim Report This Comment

Fair enough so let me start with these:

1. The day after he was elected the stock market rallied like a motherfucker. Some would say that's normal and to some degree that's true. After months of campaigning and uncertainty the election's over and everyone knows who's gonna be at the helm. However, this time if you talked to any businessperson you'd have also found there was a huge sigh of relief in knowing there was a light at the end of the tunnel as another lib waddn gonna continue to heap more and more business regulations, taxes and fees upon them. This time they knew someone who was not a politician was heading the charge to get the govt outta the way and let businesses just WORK for a change.

2. A serious measure of his success is that it's not been business as usual in the body politic since he took office. No more silver tongued speeches filled with meaningless platitudes and that's driven the MSM and the rest of the quagmire known as "the swamp" to absolute distraction. No single presidential election in my lifetime has stirred TPTB up as has this administration and that's definitely a good thing!

3. The economy prior to the covid BS charade had been off the rails for months setting new records time and time again. Of course now all the blow hard libs will claim that the way the economy is now will all be his fault too, just like GWB got hit with the fall out from 9-11 after the economy had started an upward rise prior to that during his term.

4. For the 1st time ever we've had a president whose not been afraid of stepping on international toes to get shit done. The trade deals between China, Mexico and Canada had all favored them and not the US because we had non-businessmen political wimps in place who negotiated those deals as opposed to a serious business negotiator like we have in President Trump.

5. Though he's had to fight tooth and nail all of congress including his own party, the MSM and the screaming choir of libs across the country there's actually been some progress made towards enforcing our own southern border and limiting the nonsensical BS of claiming political asylum in efforts to simply bamboozle and circumvent our immigration laws.

I know, I know, so many think it's no big deal that we just let people continue to break our laws, steal from our economy and I mean WTF, it's only like 30+ million or so ... and climbing, right? Well I'll tellya this, if you fuckers that see it as no big deal had lived all your life here in Texas you'd damned well know just how big a problem it is and probably have a much different view of that issue.

Enough for a start so you libs get busy tellin me how wrong I am about the above.

Just be sure you make reasonably supportable points and lay off the name callin and back biting BS ... ain't nobody gots no time for dat

Trump was born in 1946 and went to school & university in the 50's & 60's.
I think a lot of people identify with that golden era of the USA and that alone gives him credibility when he uses his MAGA slogan.
And let's face it, he's had a pretty amazing privileged life through the 70's the 80's and the 90's.
People are jealous. In Australia it's called Tall Poppy Syndrome.

His grandfather died in 1918 from the Spanish Flu by the way.

If you want to know mine, it is the Constitution of the United States of America.

I don't have a measure. Or a vested interest. I'm not American, it really doesn't matter to me. I was just curious because it was said he was doing a good job. So I wanted to know how that's qualified, that's all.

It takes an overly impressive ego to even want to be president, intelligence is way down the qualification or requirements list.
I would think by now people would know this and quit trying to substantiate or deny the validity of anything said by insulting their already lack of intelligence or plain common sense.

I'm genuinely curious. Why do you think he's done a good job? What are the measurements of success?

First thing that comes to mind is the cut to the federal income tax rate..
"Americans paid almost $64 billion less in federal income taxes during the first year under the Republican tax overhaul signed into law in late 2017 by President Donald Trump, with some of the sharpest drops clustered among taxpayers earning between $25,000 and $100,000 a year" source
At the time all the MSM could talk about was how all Trumps millionaire cronies would benefit and refusing to acknowledge that the cuts helped the little guy more...and then the following year they reported about how so many people received smaller refunds or no refund because of Trump but not explaining that the reason was because they took less money so there was less to give back...duh.

Next is national security..I strongly believe in strong borders. I can not understand people that think it's okay to allow just anyone to waltz into our nation unchallenged...
Consider this...put your politics and feelings aside, and consider this;
You come home from working a long shift..you walk into your house and there is a family of four in your house..you've never met them before...mom is cooking some of your food..dad is in your garage looking through your toolbox and putting wrenches in his pocket..kids are watching teevee and playing vidya games...NOW, what are you going to do about that? Is it okay because they just wanted a better life for themselves and because your house is nicer and you have more food and better entertainment options...you gonna just let them stay? Fuck No you wouldn't. you would call the police and have those trespassers removed.

Also what Kim said...and to some degree what fossil said..

There is a lot of good that he has done and he has done some bad things too..We All Have. Everybody makes mistakes, the difference between his and yours is that there aren't tons of talking heads on the teevvee everyday saying "pulse bad! pulse bad! pulse bad!!!!" instead it's "Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad! Orange man bad!" rinse and repeat..
And don't try to tell me hiS MiSTakeS coSt PeoPLe TheiR LivEs...utter nonsense. He has handled this panicdemic crisis as well as anyone could have. He has been met with resistance, criticism, and ridicule every step of the way by Democrats.
Example:
Pelosi March 2020: "Trump closed Chinese flights. Racist.!"
Pelosi April 2020: "Trump should have closed ALL Chinese flights. Incompetent."

The truly sad part is that there are so many people that just believe what they want to and ignore facts.

Do you hate Trump? Or any other political figure for that matter... Ask yourself Why.
I remember the first time I saw Trump. He was a guest on the David Letterman Show..circa 1990 I guess..not sure why he was on, probably to promote his book? Anyway I thought he was about the most arrogant person I had ever seen and didn't like him at all. I never watched The Apprentice or anything else he was a part of...
BUT all that I know about him is what I saw on teevee or the internet. I don't know him. I have never met him personally. My opinion of him is based on things that I know he did or said and not in what other people say that he meant by what he said. I don't need Rachel Madcow, Anderson Cooper, or anyone else to interpret his words for me.

Also:
The best they have to offer instead of Trump?
