I agree. He would roll over in his grave if he found out what shape this country has gotten into. This George, knew true Patriotism. His cause was for true freedom. He fought and led his troops to the ultimate victory, from the very country that is our closest friend when it comes to war. He fought to rid us from a Tyrant and heavy taxation. I guess his fight must have been in vain. Our preamble to the greatest plan was to provide us with a map to guide us in our search for everlasting peace and freedom. The preamble states that we should provide for the common defense, not offense against others, but to protect our borders. Everything our forefathers fought and died for, is now coming back to haunt us all. Maybe we should take a step back and look at where we are. We elect our officials, and it is suppose to be, by the peopleand for the people. Not how much money you have and corporate sponsors. Wake up, and let's take back what our founding fathers gave us!

From the look on this George's face he must have had a premonition of the George we have now.

an democracy born with a George as elected president and an empire murdered by a George as usurper of what was once that democracy

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." — H. L. Mencken

The full quote is even better:

"The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
