I watched a TV program this afternoon about 19th century photographer Seneca
Ray Stoddard and got an idea to try some stereoscopic photography. Using my
cheap little digital camera, a stepladder, and my crappy computer program &
scanner, I got some interesting 3D effects.
It will probably work best if you download this image and view it full screen,
but it works as it appears here. You have to sit back 18 inches more or less
from your screen, cross your eyes, and cocentrate on the third image that seems
to appear in between the other two images. I was surprised that it really worked
fairly easily. Now I need to build a stereoscope for viewing without the eye
crossing - some folks just can't do it.
But first I want to see if I can find some of Mr. Stoddard's photos online. He
did some wonderful work in New York's Anirondack Moutains.

Pretty cool, plp. As soon as I get done here I'm going to build a viewer - all
this crossed-eyed shit is giving me a headache, and I'd like to give my
cross-eyed challenged friends & family members a chance to see this. What
better way to spend the last day of my vacation? Back to work tomorrow.
