That's nothin'. Here in Florida we are in the midst of our annual springtime
outbreak of "lovebugs" and it's the worst I've seen in 27 years of
living here. Lovebugs, as the name implies, basically do nothing but fly around
fornicating in the same position as these flies. Their bodies are similar in
size and make-up to fireflies, what we used to call lightning bugs in the
midwestern US. This year they are swarming in the billions everywhere here and
they make a hell of a mess out of the front of a car in a very short time. I've
posted a pic of the front of my old Ford a few images down the line. and that
carnage basically represents what can be done in about a quarter mile.
Fortunately they don't bite but they're getting into everything and ruining the
paint on peoples' cars.
