This is me.
I was picking "FUKI-NO-TOU" (Butterbur flower stalk) at early spring
Tokamachi.
I like FUKI-NO-TOU's tempura, and after that time I eaten with my friends.
That was verry verry good!
Now Nagaoka, my living town is in snow...
I'm waiting for next spring.

(Well known as great earthquake's stricken area, 10-23-2004. Nagaoka is in same
area)

surreal. i shall endeavor to be more like him in the future. i guess i have been

When I spent time overseas, I visited Tokyo. Although a crowded, bustling
metropolis, I was never made to feel like a stranger. The Japanese I've met (and
drank with) were the nicest, most friendly and congenial people I've ever met in
my life. I don't understand how one beer costs $12, though.

As far as nice people go, they're everywhere. Just after my government funded
"tour" of Iraq during Desert Storm, I spent a little time in Kuwait
and the UAE. I never once had to pay for any of my meals, and was invited to sit
with them and drink coffee everywhere I went.

TommyT Report This Comment Date: December 12, 2005 01:56PM
Hello Hello!
Thank you for your nice collage John Winston!
And...wow! A lot of comments! I'm surprised.
I'm not nice guy like Tom Cruise and I'm not Samurai. And I'm not live in
Cleveland, Nagaoka! I'm realy Japanese.
One beer costs $12...anout1,300Yen? It's too high costs, but I think it's
reasonable in Tokyo.
For instance in Nagaoka (Bar, Snack bar, Pub etc)...
Cover charge and hors d'oeuvre : 1,500 - 3,000Yen
A beer : 500 - 750Yen
A bottle of whisky, brandy, wine etc : 3,000 - 10,000Yen... exclusive things are
20,000 - 50,000Yen etc.
(Bottles can drink at once, or use "Bottle keep" service.)
A dish : 500 - 1,500Yen
It's an instance of a Pub I use well. So there are many stores more higher or
more lower.
Generally Tokyo's prices are unreasonable higher!
FUKI-NO-TOU's tempura is bitter and nice smelling. This 'bitter' is just
enjoyment of FUKI-NO-TOU's tempura, and eat with a little soy sause or salt.
huh...I must learn English more than more!
