Yep, I didn't like the cloud idea to begin with. I like to keep my stuff with
me because I don't want it under someone else's control and I've experienced
enough internet outages to not want it stored where I can't get to it.

I have always been wary of storing information somewhere else. It's fine for
information that should be shared, and there's certainly a lot of that but
people are making big mistakes storing their own sensitive and confidential
information anywhere other than local. I realize that some of it is going to be
out there anyway because that's how the government and companies do business,
but keep it to a minimum.
Marketing had to come up with something new sounding, they already wore out
eThis and iThat. It really is like a fashion trend, the guy is right about that
too.

Fashion? Nay, pure folly!
The very idea that I'd willingly turn over my digital archive to a 3rd party,
essentially turning my personal PCs into nothing but Dum-Dum terminals so I
could access someone elses data storage facility to retrieve MY data would seem
about as bright as a .010 watt LED.
With HD space still gettin cheaper by the year, why on earth would anyone
willingly give up local storage of personal files in favor of using someone
elses' HD space

Yeah, it's time for ol' quasi to invest in an external hard drive. Been doing
some kayaking videos and need something bigger than a flash drive for backup as
I had been doing with photos and important files, though I think today the
videography just came to a screeching halt for awhile.

Q man, shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do to help in your digital
endeavors

The only thing I allow on the cloud is my contact list nothing more private
than that. I have 3.5 terabytes of hard drive space and still growing. I even
turn my computer off at night and have the power for it running through a master
switch which is off at night also. I can't understand why people leave their
computers on 24/7, it only takes a few minutes to turn it on in the mornings.

This guy kinda looks like Willie Robertson from Duck Commander.
BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: June 12, 2013 01:01AM
True. Also reminds me of Quasi with more hair and less grey.

I'm actually a couple of years younger than this guy but, yeah, I looked a lot
like that about fifteen years ago. My own dad started calling me Grizzly Adams
about 30 years ago.
