There are alternatives for Mac and Linux to re-size images.

I have a way to resize images, just rarely do. I remember what it was like doin dial up but most folks these days are runnin some form of high speed, so I usually just let 'em go as is, unless I crop 'em

There are a lot of people on 256k DSL and it is not what I'd call high speed. Web developers are the worst when it comes to assuming everyone is on high speed connections.
