If you know ANYTHING about the Olympics process the submissions take years to
put together and require several visits by the committee to the city, proposals,
shmoozing, etc. The committee decided months ago Chicago wasn't going to get
it... they just don't vote until the meeting. In the committee's mind it's been
narrowed down to two for a LONG time before Obama even mentioned it. If they
were taken out in the early vote they had no chance in the first place.
