I've never lived in Britain but I don't find the term Paki offensive.
People from Australia are abbreviated to Aussies.
People from Pakistan are abbreviated to Pakies.
It makes sense to me.

What should we call the people from Niger then?
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: January 14, 2009 04:33PM

As usual, the forces (and media) revolving around the rediculious concepts of
political correctness have made much hubub about a little of nothin

I think it was a trick question fossil, but either way Nigerians is the term
for people from Nigeria. I do not know what the correct term for people from
Niger is. Easy mistake to make i guess since they do border each other.

Nigeriens are from Niger and
Nigerians are from Nigeria
FrostedApe Report This Comment Date: January 15, 2009 07:15AM
Seriously, do we really need both of those countries? This is the 21st
Century, for Christ's sake.
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: January 15, 2009 08:53AM
What are you suggesting Apeman? Genocide of the Nigeriens? or the Nigerians?
I'm sure they think they need both countries.

FrostedApe Report This Comment Date: January 16, 2009 04:03PM
No, I'm pretty sure I'm officially against genocide. I'm just thinking of a
merger, a consolidation of functions, and the elimination of redundancy.
Nigeria has all those doctors and professors who can't get their money out of
the country and want me to help them, they can use it to buy yellow-cake uranium
from the Niger half of the country and sell it to the violent douchebags in the
middle east who want to make nuclear bombs with it. Everybody wins, right?

Certain elements of the 'Asian community' (nice integration there

) want the Prince to
apologise for his 'offence' and to spend time in their community to make up for
it but they don't stop their own 'leaders' using offensive terms to describe us
do they? Prince Harry meant no offence but this lot do mean to be offensive but
does anyone try and make them stop and apologise? No, that would be considered
an attack on a minority and therefore would be seen as being racist. Logical
eh? They can do and say whatever they want but want everyone else to walk on
egg-shells
