HA! I love stuff like this because there is so much of it when you start to
look. Where I live they are keen on pedestrian crossings on corners but save
money by not putting up street lighting making accidents more likely than if the
person crossing just had to wait a bit. Speed bumps combined with crossings on
corners is another one.
I don`t know how a person gets the job of planning our town centers but I think
the only question they ask at the interview is "do you know why you have
been asked here today?" If you answer
no then you get the job.
Norway has a couple of traffic laws that really irritate me too because they
seem to have been invented at the time of the horse and cart and are now more
likely to cause an accident than prevent one. Just got to keep

I recently visited Hot Springs, Arkansas in the U.S. and the pedestrian
crossing lights actually have a digital countdown that is visible.

I've seen those in a few other cities too...
