I think in general. Christianity, produces people with bad morals. They do
have the "morals" ("The Ten Commandments" to start with)
given to them with a guide line for following them. But, No matter what they
do, good or bad, at the end of the day they are FORGIVEN for there wrong doings.
That I just have a problem with. Things you do should be remembered and not
just swept under the rug.
For instance, you covet your neighbors wife, then you murder your neighbor when
he gets home. God forgives you, granted your probably going to prison for a
number of things. Your still forgiven. Unless you get away with it. But, if
you believe, God still knows and then forgives. That HAS to produce people
that think they are above the law.
But for me, I have a serious problem in believing make believe. Do unto
others...

Saw a Gansta Garbed up kid the other day acting like a ruff punk asshole that
had Doves and ixthous and a license plate that read "Not perfect, just
forgiven" and a few other trendy slogans passed around by half hearted
Xtian zealots. and I though to myself, I guess it is ok to go around showing
your contempt for society in the manner of this gangsta kid as long as you have
"Jesus Christ"'s forgiveness. Now I understand the Be forgiven and
heal yourself by forgiving yourself concept, but I do believe it has been
bastardized by "needing to belong to the greater" and therefore
causing a crop of social paths who need not carry the burden of their actions
nor take heed to true wrong actions.

No one can EVER escape the consequences of their actions. Period. It all
catches up to you eventually. It's the law of Cause & Effect = Karma.

PLPs comment reminds me of the bumper sticker i used to see all the time that
said "my boss is a jewish carpenter" I always have to laugh at that
because the sheep that put that on his/her car does so because they see it as a
clever and witty way to say that they are christian...the funny thing is that if
they really were a true christian that actually studied the bible, then they
would know that jesus was not a carpenter...his step-dad joseph was....
remember folks, only sheep need a shepherd...

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive
ourselves and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him
out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. 1John
1:8-10
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions
from us. Psalm 103:12

Sin is a relative term and as such it means differing things to different
individuals but is based solely on the concept of belief in some deity.
I feel sure that had someone asked Hitler if he felt it was a sin to have
annihilated 6 million Jews his answer would have been a resounding no. Then if
you were to ask Jimmy Carter about having looked lustfully at a woman other than
his wife he would tell you that yes he had and that act in itself was a sin.
My own thoughts are that the concept of sin is one used by proponents of
religion to hold followers in check in their actions by deeming certain actions
as "sins" which of course makes them inherently evil and forbidden.
As one unbound by such concepts or constraints, others ideas of "sin"
hold no power over me. I have to ultimately answer to the god of my own destiny
that lives within me every day, and as such, hold myself accountable to no one
but myself. Though I don't believe in any imaginary friends or a "higher
power" the concepts of right and wrong are still deeply ingrained in my
thoughts and I have to answer to myself should I violate my own principles in
this regard.
So .... if I were to embrace any idea of sin it would only be the violation of
my own concepts of right and wrong, but never would that mean I would hold
myself accountable to anothers views as others are only gods of THEIR destiny,
not mine
