I think we always could.

I just didn't because I didn't want a 10MB image being on the home page, hurts page ranking if it takes ages to load. Given the speed of the connections involved these days I doubt it matters.

Sadly it made a very tiny ITOW. Looks a bit silly on the front page, needs to be higher res (or maybe if an image is below a certain resolution it needs to be stretched on front page like it is in the image display).

So yeah a 200 x 150 image looks a bit ass on the front page smiling smiley
