How widespreaad is English in Japan?

Tiw, sorry but I don't know so well.
But many signs...for example, Traffic signs, Shop or Store's names (In this
picture, "Mitsukoshi" and "Daiwa" department),
Company's names ("Fuji Film" "Nikon" "Toyota"
"Nissan" "Subaru" etc...), Street names, Bus stops and
Stations names, Destinations of Trains and Bus etc... Japanese and English
(especialy in Niigata city a little of Korean, Russian, Chinese) signs are many
and many in large cities and towns of Japan, I saw and think.

Now about 800thousand citizen in Niigata city. The most large city of Japan
Sea's side of Japan.
I tried to found maps of Niigata city in English.
