Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcasting will not air Kimmel. They account
for about 70 TV stations and 25% of the U.S. Nexstar needs the FCC to sign off
on its $6.2 billion merger with rival Tenga.

Yeah we all got that within the first few hours from intelligent people on X
and yooboob, and understood what was going on.
The rest of the internet on the other hand went full TDS as usual.

One thing FCC Chairman Carr said that I had previously missed: "These
companies can find a way to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel,
or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."
I think this is more about Kimmel spotlighting Trump's crassness toward Kirk's
death in the "offending" monologue than the only brief mention of Kirk
himself. Thin skinned Trump has been whining about the late-night hosts for
years and now on his revenge tour is, as he is in many other instances,
attempting to use the powers of government in unconstitutional ways. Carr's
statements were a direct threat to Disney and it rattled Nexstar which needs FCC
approval for a huge merger, similar to what happened with Stephen Colbert and
CBS/Paramount in which the network caved but was smart enough to not immediately
gag Colbert and the merger was okayed by the FCC. But then a large part of
America said not so fast, dipshits.
Here's the minute long horrible, awful, no-good bit of the monologue that the
fuss was about: [

Here's Kimmel's nearly half hour long return monologue last night in which he
thanks several right wing people whom he rarely agrees with and often pokes fun
at for seeing what was going on (unlike pro_junior [not surprising] and
apparently woberto [disappointing, I thought he was smarter than that]) and
speaking up: [
