World War 2 Veterans. They'll all be gone soon. They leave behind a world run
by people who can't use a spanner.

You underestimate the number of people who can use a spanner or other tools.
You must have a very narrow view of the world. What's lost with the passing of
those people is an awareness of and courage to fight fascism. History doesn't
necessarily repeat, but it does rhyme and we're in another verse of the poem
now.

I don't underestimate the number of people who can use spanners and other
tools. Lots can and do where I live, but among those running the world?
What's lost is the awareness of the need to fight all types of socialism, NAZI,
Robert Owen (Fabians) and Marxist. These people are the ultimate threat amongst
us right now and the schools of philosophy should be closed, with the monies
divided up amongst the other faculties:

As for history, you're quite right. It's going to be a rude wake up.

Anon-not logged in, it was early in the morning before I'd had my coffee when I
misunderstood your original comment, but I think it could reasonably said that
it has always been that the people who rule the world know little of how life is
for the average person who actually uses tools and depends on them. From royalty
to the billionaire class that control governments and industry, few if any of
them know what it is to have had to crawl under their car on an evening to make
a repair so they can make it to work the next day to earn their living or
something comparable, but there are billions of other folks who do.
