Was workin with a dude from Wisconsin back in the late 70s. Conrad (Bud), his
chic Brenda, myself and their cat Zeke left Meecham Field in FW with a rented
Grumman, $20 in cash and a credit card for a week long excursion to Bud n
Brendas home town of Portage, Wi. The beauty of the place was amazing as were
the $.25 pours of Old Style at the local hot spot ... good times

Just made it home yesterday after spending 16 days here...I really like this
part of the country, it's peaceful here. I like the Midwest in general. Friendly
people, no litter, no graffiti , no bum camps..

.. Portage is about 150 miles south of this
lake.

Thanks to Buds talents we got an aerial view of the area around Portage,
absolutely gorgeous. Woods, rivers and lakes, it was stunning.
Dug the people and vibe there too, even considered stayin a while but there was
damned little work to be had there, which of course was why Bud n Brenda had
come to Texas ... kinda sad really
